We partner with organizations and projects to help end the global threat of climate change.
Eligibility
To apply for a grant from the Weisel Foundation, applicants should:
(i) Be a nonprofit organization with a 501(c)(3) public charity designation by the IRS (or be fiscally sponsored by one) and
(ii) Work with and for the people and communities in Minnesota, and/or the greater Midwest.
If your organization is not yet a 501(c)(3) or does not yet have a fiscal sponsor, you are welcome to apply while you are securing that designation. Grants can only be made to verified public charities.
What We Support
In addition to these eligibility requirements, the Weisel Foundation prefers to partner with organizations or projects that prioritize:
(i) Developing and promoting clean energy research and development, and the increase of spending in that space;
(ii) Increasing energy efficiency;
(iii) Minimizing emissions by improving agricultural practices, stopping deforestation, and preventing environmental degradation;
(iv) Adopting evidence based, long term strategies for carbon capture and storage;
(iii) Supporting groups engaging in non-violent, lawful climate protest to raise awareness and mobilize systemic social change.
